FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q. How do we deal with registration and confirmation?

A. Parents can print our registration form online and either mail it to 1514 Summit Lake Shore Road, Olympia, WA 98501or fax it to 360-867-1334. Confirmation letter with medical questionnaire will be emailed upon receipt of deposit and registration form. Please provide us with your correct email address. Confirmation will not be mailed.

Q. We have a team that wants to train together. Is this possible?

A. We encourage teams to participate together. Please send all registration forms/deposits together with the team name on the form.

Q. What if my child has to change sessions at the last minute?

A. There is no charge for changing sessions but it is based upon available space for that session.

Q. We have always wanted to vacation in Mason County. Since we are bringing our child to camp we thought we'd do some vacationing ourselves. Can you give us ideas as to what to do in your area?

A. What a great idea to combine your trip with a vacation. Please go to www.sheltonchamber.org or www.northmasonchamber.com for ideal places to visit and stay.  Mason County offers so much.

Q. Is this a co-ed camp?

A. All camps are co-ed. Separate sleeping accommodations are adhered to with same-gender coach/counselor in each cabin/lodge.

Q. What is the camp food like?

A.  We have a full-camp kitchen that is headed up by a kitchen/cook staff.  Good nutritional meals are our utmost concern. There are three meals a day with snacks. Please feel free to have your child bring his/her own snacks if they prefer.

Q. How close is the nearest medical facility?

A. Mason General Hospital (masongeneral.com) is about seven miles away and is staffed 24/7 with board certified emergency medicine physicians and nurses.  It is approved by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) - which means they are tops!  We will also have an on site camp nurse.

Q. My child has asthma. How do we assure his safety?

A. All medical issues will be addressed in the pre-camp questionnaire. Your child can continue to take his medications at the scheduled time. All prescription medications will be checked in upon arrival. Please inform us of any over-the-counter medications your child may also take. Please bring enough medication for your child for the week. We have a registered nurse on staff also.

Q. How do we contact our child in case of an emergency?

A. Our direct phone number at the camp is 360-898-2269 or John Purtteman’s cell phone at 360-790-6657.

Q. What are the sleeping accommodations like?

A.  We have a 7,000 square foot Main Lodge plus four separate cabins with bunk beds.  There will be a staff person in each cabin and the lodge to oversee the campers. We also have bathroom facilities and warm showers.

Q. What should my daughter bring to camp?

A. Campers need to bring all personal items they will need for the week, soccer gear (lots of socks, cleats, tennis shoes, shorts, sunscreen, bug spray, warm clothes for potential inclement weather, sleeping bag, towels, pillows, etc.).  They should leave all valuables at home.  There is no need to bring money or cell phones.  There is a phone at camp for all emergency needs. If your child needs to make a personal in-state or out-of-state long distance call, please have them bring a calling card. It is not necessary for your child to bring his/her own soccer ball.

Q. How do you handle bed-wetting or other issues?

A. Your child’s privacy and esteem is our main concern. We will be discreet and conscientious when taking care of these matters. Alerting us prior to camp check-in on the medical questionnaire will facilitate our ability to remain discreet. We have laundry facilities on site.
